Amber Cutts’ work investigates the role of fashion and still life imagery within contemporary media from fashion magazine to website, online publication, social media and video.
Through her appropriation, manipulation and deconstruction of fashion, lifestyle and beauty imagery she critiques and subverts the norms of commercial photography.Her resulting works are characterised by vibrant colours, strong compositions and a visual disruption of the image. This is achieved through de-contextualisation and superimposition questioning the authenticity of the image and its role within the media.
Her experimental and playful imagery encourages the viewer to question the codes and conventions of fashion and lifestyle photography and the messages it conveys.
